Jen Douglass has been a part of the Thoracare team for 8 years and is currently working with both outpatients and inpatients. She is currently the inpatient physiotherapy coordinator on the general medical and respiratory wards. Jen completed her degree at Curtin University, and has worked predominantly in the areas of cardio-respiratory, cardio-thoracic and inpatient rehabilitation. These are her main areas of interest, in which she enjoys gaining further experience and knowledge by working in an outpatient setting. She has also completed some further training in rehabilitation of dizziness and balance issues. Outside work Jen enjoys spending as much time as she can with friends and family.
Liane was born in Kwa Zulu Natal, South Africa and graduated at University of Cape Town in 1986 with BSC Physiotherapy. She immigrated to Perth with her family in 1999 to start a new adventure. Liane’s background is private practice, where she ran a team of physiotherapists who serviced acute respiratory, cardiac surgery and neurosurgery, as well as outpatient rooms specialising in spinal, musculoskeletal, sport injuries and rehabilitation.
The practice was involved with State track and field athletes, as well as the Durban World surf life-saving Championships in 1999 and the Vets World Track and Field in 1997. Liane’s interests currently lie in treating breathing pattern disorders, hyperventilation syndrome and inspiratory muscle training in clients with a history of chest problems or unexplained breathing disorders. She is also interested in breathing disorders in sportspeople and athletes.
Lucinda completed her Bachelor of Applied Science (Physiotherapy) through WAIT and went on to do her post Graduate Diploma in Manipulative Physiotherapy at Curtin University, in which she achieved a distinction. She started her career working at Sir Charles Gardiner Hospital for 3 years in inpatient physiotherapy, and also has 25 years’ experience in Private Practice. Currently Lucinda works with inpatient’s at St John of God Hospital where she has been for several years now. Her areas of interest lay in gerontology, respiratory, oncology and palliative physiotherapy care.
Outside of work Lucinda loves spending time with family and friends, especially with good food and wine. She enjoys most outdoor activities, especially cycling, hiking and tennis.
Stella completed her Bachelor of Applied Science (Physiotherapy) through WAIT, which is now Curtin University. Stella has worked in both the public and private healthcare sectors, locally and in the UK. She has extensive hospital based experience in a broad range of acute medical and surgical specialties, and in rehabilitation. She has also worked in oncology and palliative care. Her main interests are post-surgical care, rehabilitation, gerontology and patient education. Stella finds enabling people to regain independence following surgery, illness or injury very rewarding.
Time outdoors is enjoyed when not working. Together with friends and family camping, bushwalking, at outdoor cinemas and festivals, or simply sharing a meal.
Beth completed both her Master of Physiotherapy and Bachelor Science in Exercise, Sport and Rehabilitation at Curtin University. Since graduating Beth has worked mainly as an inpatient physiotherapist with experience in both sub-acute orthopaedic rehabilitation and acute medical settings. Beth has a genuine interest in intensive care and post-surgical populations and is passionate about positively motivating patients through the use of her professional knowledge, sunny disposition and personal rehabilitation experiences.
Outside of work Beth enjoys the beach, being outdoors, and is a keen open water scuba diver.
Olivia completed her Bachelor of Applied Science (Physiotherapy) with Distinction at Curtin University. Since graduating, she has developed a strong passion for working as a physiotherapist in an inpatient setting. Olivia has a strong interest in cardiorespiratory, gerontology and post-surgical care and enjoys working closely with patients to assist them in achieving the goals that matter most to them. Outside of work, Olivia enjoys spending time with family and friends, cooking and playing tennis.
Mel completed her Bachelor of Physiotherapy at Charles Sturt University in NSW. Since graduating, she has worked as an inpatient physiotherapist in a number of major tertiary hospitals throughout Australia. She has developed a strong passion for working with acutely unwell patients in the intensive care and ward setting, with particular interest in post-operative care. Mel enjoys working closely with patients and motivating them to optimise outcomes and achieve their goals. Outside of work Mel enjoys spending time with her family and friends, as well as going to the beach and camping.
Tim completed his Bachelor of Physiotherapy at the University’s of Norte Dame. Since graduating, he has gained experience in acute care and orthopaedic rehabilitation, with a strong interest in improving cardiorespiratory function to optimise quality of life. Outside of work, Tim enjoys spending time with friends and playing sport.
I completed my Bachelor of physiotherapy at the University of Notre Dame in 2023. My interest in cardiorespiratory and post-surgical physiotherapy sparked during one of my final University placement at Albany health campus (Albany hospital). I enjoy working collaboratively with patients to ensure their goals are not only met but exceeded. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with family and friends and walking my dog Milly.
